This is an interesting question, because when you think about it skinny ppl actually have a WASTEFUL metabolism, you throw heaps of food at it and it just burns it up willy nilly.
Which begs the question, if the world wants to be skinnier and we unlock the key to faster metabolisms, we effectively exacerbate the problem of world hunger and food shortage if everyone switches to fast metabolisms.
Although i suppose overweight ppl are still eating too much now for their highly efficient metabolisms anyway, so there would probably be no increase in food consumed. Just more heat produced instead of fat.
Instead, I think giving us all chloroplasts in our skin so that we could make some of our own sugars by photosynthesis would be much smarter. Tradies working outside would get big sugar hit to help with the day's work too

I think we should also be looking at the electochemisty of chloroplasts to see if the photosynthesis reactions can be altered to produce electricity instead of sugars. Imagine that, we plant green plants to produce electicity and eat up CO2s!!
